Un ‘cafelito’ en la dieta de las vacas

Una investigación con vacas de Oleta (Álava) concluye que los piensos enriquecidos con café son válidos para el ganado lechero y reducen un 20% las emisiones de metano de estos animales.
La mayor explotación de vacuno del País Vasco cuenta con 1.000 cabezas de ganado en Oleta (Álava) que producen cinco millones de litros de leche al año. Durante mes medio, a 150 de estas vacas les cambiaron la dieta y pasaron a servirles el pienso enriquecido con posos de café. La misma fórmula alimenticia se le proporcionó a un rebaño de ovejas. La experiencia fue seguida muy de cerca por científicos de Azti y nutricionistas. La ingesta de pienso mezclado con los desechos del café no altera la cantidad ni la calidad de la leche que dan estos animales y se consigue una reducción del 20% de emisones de metano que generan. “Es un ingrediente que puede revolucionar el futuro de la ganadería”.
